This year’s Kips Bay Decorator Show House is not to be missed! The Show House is a breath of fresh air, located this year in two adjoining duplexes on the 21st-22nd floors of a modern building overlooking the Hudson River with expansive views west. Brian McCarthy, David Kleinberg and I chose to do a room together in honor of our mentor, Albert Hadley. Albert was always a stalwart proponent of the Kips Bay Show House, so we thought what better way to continue his legacy than to design a room in the manner that he would – mixing old and new furniture, tapestries and modern art. We added a few playful nods to Albert, like pops of red, his famous “Don’t Forget” pad and an all-gin bar.

From rich lacquered walls to faux-paneled wallpaper, modern art to chalkboard walls, luxurious fabrics and unique furniture arrangements, this show house is a wealth of inspirational ideas.

The house is located at The Aldyn Residences, 60 Riverside Boulevard (between 62nd & 63rs Street), and open through June 14th. For more information on the show house, “The Best Of …” Lecture Series 2012 sponsored by Hearst Design Group and hosted by Sotheby’s, or the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club please visit the Kips Bay Decorator Show House 2012 website.
